Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene drew a sharp contrast between how the Biden administration handles death threats against politicians, noting her alleged assassin gets to spend three months in prison while a Biden critic wound up dead.

The Georgia Republican was reacting on Saturday to news that Joseph Morelli, a 51-year-old New York man, was sentenced to three months in prison for threatening to kill her in 2022.

According to Georgia Public Broadcasting, Morelli had pleaded guilty in February to making several threatening calls to Greene’s office in Washington, D.C. On one occasion, he left a voicemail saying, “I’m gonna have to take your life into my own hands … I’m gonna hurt you. Physically, I’m gonna harm you.”

He followed that with a second message in which he said he would “pay someone 500 bucks to take a baseball bat and crack your skull.”

Prosecutors told the court that Morelli had threatened others in the past and was intent on “seeking confrontation with an authority figure,” GPB reported.

Greene, however, contrasted the government’s response to Morelli to that of Craig Deleeuw Robertson, a 74-year-old Utah man.

Robertson, an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump, had made repeated threats against President Joe Biden and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

On Aug. 9, the FBI visited his home to execute search and arrest warrants. According to the Associated Press, agents shot and killed Robertson. Friends and neighbors described him as a hothead who could be opinionated, but that he also was in frail health, used a cane to get around, and did not pose a threat to anyone.

Agents reportedly breached the entrance to Robertson’s home with a battering ram after he refused their demands to come out. The FBI claimed that Robertson pointed a .357-caliber revolver at agents as they entered his home.

On Saturday, Greene said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, “Deranged leftist pleads guilty after threatening to kill me, gets to stay home all summer waiting for his sentencing trial then only goes to jail for a measly few months and doesn’t have to report until October 2nd.”

“But if you’re an old man who can barely walk without a cane and you threaten a Democrat, the government shows up to your house and shoots you dead.”
