Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has announced her intention to reintroduce a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
This comes after her previous attempt failed to gather enough votes in the House.
Greene took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce her plans to reintroduce the censure resolution against Tlaib.
“I’m reintroducing my censure resolution against Terrorist Tlaib. I am removing “insurrection” and replacing it with “illegal occupation” on Oct 18th that broke the same federal laws as Jan 6 and led to hundreds of arrest and assault on Cap Police,” said Greene.
She emphasized that she would be replacing the term “insurrection” with “illegal occupation” in reference to a pro-Palestinian rally Tlaib attended on October 18th, which led to activists taking over parts of the Cannon House Office Building.

Greene’s previous attempt to censure Tlaib failed to gain sufficient support in the House. In response, she posted a photo on social media, singling out the 23 Republicans who voted against censuring Tlaib, accusing them of being “Pro-terrorists, Pro-Hamas, Anti-Israel, anti-Semitic.”
Greene argued that since Adam Schiff was previously censured, her colleagues should also have the ability to vote for Tlaib’s censure. She expressed concern over Tlaib’s alleged call for the genocide of Israel and emphasized the importance of taking action against such statements.
Tlaib’s Controversial Statements
“From the River to the Sea”
Tlaib’s use of the phrase “from the river to the sea” has drawn criticism from the Anti-Defamation League, which deems it a “code for eradicating” Israel. Tlaib, on the other hand, has defended the phrase, stating that it represents an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence.
Accusations Against President Biden
Tlaib has accused President Biden of “supporting the genocide of the Palestinian people” due to the administration’s backing of Israel during the war in Gaza. She has called for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the safe return of all Americans.
Response to Greene’s Censure Effort
Tlaib has labeled Greene’s renewed push for censure as “unhinged” and “deeply Islamophobic.” She has vowed not to be silenced and continues to advocate for peace, justice, and the dignity of all people, regardless of faith or ethnicity.

Implications and Debate
- Freedom of Speech and Censure
Greene argues that her colleagues should exercise their freedom of speech in Congress to censure Tlaib’s alleged incitement of an illegal occupation. The debate centers around whether censuring Tlaib is a justifiable response to her statements and actions. - Expulsion vs. Censure
While some may call for Tlaib’s expulsion from Congress, Greene hopes that at the very least, her colleagues will vote to censure her. The discussion revolves around the severity of Tlaib’s alleged offenses and the appropriate course of action. - Antisemitism Accusations
Both Greene and Tlaib have faced accusations of antisemitism in the past. The argument extends beyond their individual actions and raises questions about the role of antisemitism in contemporary politics.
The renewed push by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib has reignited the debate surrounding Tlaib’s statements on the war in Gaza.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the implications of such actions and the broader discussions on freedom of speech, expulsion versus censure, and accusations of antisemitism will shape the future of these two congresswomen and their respective constituencies.
