A 24-year-old Georgia woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her 13-month-old daughter.
Chloe Driver was convicted of malice murder and cruelty to children in November 2024. The incident occurred in December 2020 when Driver stabbed her daughter to death in their Canton home.
Driver was found guilty, but mentally ill, in November on charges of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and cruelty to children. The jury rejected Driver’s insanity defense, determining that she was criminally responsible for her actions.

The prosecution argued that Driver, who was part of a cult, was responsible for her actions and rejected her insanity defense.
“No matter how hopeless you feel, no matter how desperate you feel, no matter how angry you feel, no matter how frustrated you feel, you don’t get to commit the act of murder, and that is the law,” said Chief Assistant District Attorney Katie Gropper in her closing argument. “That was a violent, heinous, horrible way to die. And I don’t care how bad your life is, you do not get to do that to this baby girl, and there be no consequences for you. She chose that life. Hannah did not. Hold her responsible.”
The court agreed, sentencing her to life imprisonment.
The Incident
On December 8, 2020, officers from the Canton Police Department responded to a residence on Mountain Vista Boulevard after receiving a report of a deceased infant and an adult with life-threatening injuries. Authorities found Driver and her daughter in a bedroom, both with injuries.

Medics transported Hannah to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Driver, who had sustained serious injuries, was taken to another hospital. Two weeks later, on December 22, 2020, Driver was arrested following her release from medical care.
The Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office revealed that Driver was traveling from North Carolina to Florida with a group described as a “cult” that included two men, three women, and the baby. After stopping at her home in Canton, Driver brought her daughter upstairs and fatally stabbed her in the neck.
The infant’s father attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived, but Hannah succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy revealed that Hannah sustained stab wounds to her right carotid artery, esophagus, cervical vertebra, and upper back.
