POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A minor traffic collision turned into a multi-charge arrest for Taron Todd, 31, of Bartow, after he attempted to flee the scene and subsequently ran out of gas, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 26th, just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Transport Road and US 17 in Winter Haven. A Toyota sedan and a motorcycle, driven by Todd, were involved in a minor crash. Todd, however, opted to flee the scene, prompting the Toyota driver to call 911 and follow him.

A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy soon located Todd and attempted a traffic stop. However, Todd continued his escape attempt, which was ultimately thwarted by his motorcycle sputtering to a halt, seemingly due to a lack of fuel.

As the motorcycle slowed, Todd reportedly threw his arms up in the air in frustration, then pulled over and dismounted.

When the deputy exited his patrol car, Todd reportedly threw his hands up again and exclaimed, “****, man, I barely hit that guy, I was trying to get away from him, he was chasing me, then you got behind me and I was like ****.”
