Today, U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) introduced a Privileged Resolution of Inquiry, forcing President Joe Biden to transmit copies of any documents outlining plans for military assistance to Ukraine to the House of Representatives.
The resolution also directs Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to disclose the number of United States Armed Forces, including special operators, deployed to Ukraine without Congressional authority.
The Biden administration’s embarrassing leak of classified defense information, including warfighting plans for Ukraine, shows another conspiracy theory is correct. US troops are in Ukraine.

The National Security Council spokesman, John Kirby, admitted that U.S. special forces are inside Ukraine.
The documents revealed a 14-member unit is deployed to the U.S. embassy in Kyiv.
“There’s a small U.S. military presence at the embassy in conjunction with the defense attache’s office to help us work on accountability of the material going in and out of Ukraine,” Kirby told reporters.
He also claimed there’s been no change in America’s outlook about involvement in Ukraine’s war with Russia.
Yet, as the BBC put it, the leak “confirms what has been the subject of quiet speculation for over a year.”
But the more salient point was made by Reason magazine on Wednesday.
The leak raises “grave questions” for the Biden administration.

“But for the American public and the lawmakers theoretically representing us, one revelation should raise a larger concern: If there are U.S. boots on the ground in Ukraine, as these leaked documents indicate, are we closer to war with Russia than we thought?”
“The Biden Administration and other allied countries have been misleading the world on the state of the war in Ukraine. There must be total transparency from this administration to the American people when they are gambling war with a nuclear adversary by having special forces operating in Ukraine,” Gaetz said on Monday.
“I represent a congressional district with the highest concentration of active-duty military personnel. I come from a community where the protection of this type of classified information that was leaked can be life or death for family members and my constituents. My Privileged Resolution of Inquiry will better inform the Congress and the country on the true state of our military’s involvement in the war,” said Gaetz.

Meanwhile, Biden has said America “will not be directly engaged in this conflict, either by sending American troops to fight in Ukraine or by attacking Russian forces.”
But that pledge could fall by the wayside if tragedy strikes.
“Putting Americans in Ukraine, though only a few, could be a path to direct confrontation with Russia,” Reason noted.

“What happens if they’re killed by a Russian bomb? It’s difficult to imagine a solely verbal response from Washington, particularly if the deaths become public. Even a small risk of a world-historic catastrophe is a serious risk.”
And Russia likely won’t let that pass, as the BBC reported.
The troops’ presence in Ukraine, the outlet reported, “is likely to be seized upon by Moscow, which has in recent months argued that it is not just confronting Ukraine, but Nato as well.”
