FSU safety Jammie Robinson figures he’s got an edge entering into this NFL Combine. It’s because of his upbringing.

“I’ve got five brothers, single-parent Mom,” Robinson said. “When I play football, it’s just to create joy for my Mom, you know what I’m saying? A rough upbringing a little bit, but I feel like that’s just my safe haven.”

Robinson is a shorter, yet tough safety that projects as a nickel corner at football’s highest level. Robinson won’t wow here at the NFL Combine with measurables, but his coverage skills and his overall defensive prowess he believes will make him a factor in whichever team takes him in their defense right off the bat. Robinson believes he can do it all.

“Versatility, being able to play the nickel, the dime, both safety positions,” Robinson said. “I know all those (NFL) guys are physical, they’re smart students of the game, and they play fast. I feel that’s the same way with me.”

The FSU transfer from South Carolina was All- ACC in his two seasons in Tallahassee. Robinson recorded 319 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and seven picks in his college career.

Robinson says he’s met with several teams and mentioned sitting down with Bucs head coach Todd Bowles.
