FROSTPROOF, FL – A Frostproof woman has been arrested for allegedly attacking a man with a garden hoe, causing a serious injury. Melanie Davis, 47, was taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) on February 11th and charged with multiple offenses, including armed burglary with battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to the PCSO investigation, Davis and the victim had planned to spend time together earlier in the evening, but the victim canceled.
Angered by the cancellation, Davis went to the victim’s residence in Frostproof around 3:00 a.m. and began yelling at him from outside his fence.

Davis then escalated the situation by climbing over the fence, forcing her way into the victim’s home, and physically assaulting him. She then armed herself with a garden hoe and struck the victim, causing a severe laceration to his arm.
The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Davis was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail on charges of armed burglary with battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, simple battery, and criminal mischief.
