MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old Fort Pierce man was arrested in Marathon on Friday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of psilocybin mushroom-laced candy, marijuana, and two handguns in his vehicle.

Joseph William Wash McKee was charged with possession of approximately 88 grams of psilocybin mushroom chocolate bars, possession of approximately 8.9 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies stopped McKee’s GMC SUV on U.S. 1 near 11th Street around 10:50 p.m. for multiple traffic violations, including not having a license plate on the attached boat trailer, non-working trailer lights, and an improperly secured vessel.

A search of the vehicle was initiated after a passenger admitted to the presence of marijuana. The search uncovered the drugs, drug paraphernalia, and the firearms.

McKee was taken into custody, while the passenger was not arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
