POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Fort Meade man faces multiple charges, including DUI and threatening a law enforcement officer, after crashing his motorcycle Tuesday night and subsequently resisting arrest, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).
Deputies were called to South Washington Avenue in Fort Meade around 10:14 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, following reports of a motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, they located 60-year-old Romaine Dell Flinspach near his fallen red Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Authorities say that Flinspach turned away from the crash scene and began walking towards his nearby residence. Despite deputies yelling for him to stop, Flinspach allegedly refused to comply.
According to the PCSO report, when a deputy attempted to detain Flinspach and place him in handcuffs, he shoved the deputy and actively resisted. While being secured in the back of the patrol vehicle, Flinspach allegedly threatened the arresting deputy, stating, “I will see you when I get out, and I will shoot you.”
Deputies noted Flinspach exhibited signs of impairment, including watery and bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Flinspach reportedly admitted to drinking one-and-a-half vodka and ginger ale mixed drinks before riding his motorcycle.

He subsequently performed poorly on Field Sobriety Tests conducted at the scene.
Later, at the Polk County Jail around 3:10 AM Wednesday morning, Flinspach provided two breath samples which registered blood alcohol concentrations of 0.094 and 0.096 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08.
Romaine Dell Flinspach was arrested and charged with:
- Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
- Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO)
- Resisting Officer with Violence
- Corruption by Threat Against a Public Servant (LEO)
- Resisting Officer without Violence
He was also issued citations for Possessing a Suspended/Revoked License, Knowingly Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, and Operating a Motorcycle without an Endorsement.
