A former U.S. Army soldier from Pennsylvania has been indicted on charges of attempting to support the foreign terrorist organization Hezbollah and lying to federal agents about his intentions.

Jack Danaher Molloy, 24, a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland, is accused of traveling to Lebanon and Syria in 2024 to join Hezbollah. He allegedly attempted to join the group in Lebanon but was told he needed to take further steps. He then traveled to Syria in an effort to fight alongside Hezbollah.

Upon returning to the United States, Molloy continued his efforts to join the terrorist organization, communicating with individuals online and in Lebanon. He also allegedly expressed hatred towards Jewish people and promoted violence against them, both online and in communications with family members.

The indictment alleges that Molloy lied to FBI agents upon his arrival at Pittsburgh International Airport in October 2024. He denied having any plans to join Hezbollah or having conducted any activities in Syria.

After returning to the United States, Molloy resided in Upper St. Clair, where he continued his attempts to join Hezbollah, including through communication with individuals online and in Lebanon.

During his time in the United States and abroad, Molloy also allegedly expressed his hatred toward and promoted violence against Jewish people. Molloy’s alleged animus toward Jews was also evidenced by multiple images and videos on his electronic devices and the usernames he chose for his social media and email accounts, including the username “KIKEKILLER313” on the social media platform X.

In one WhatsApp exchange with a family member, Molloy agreed that his “master plan was to join Hezbollah and kill Jews.” And while he was residing in Upper St. Clair, Molloy also visited a website detailing the possible incarceration location of Robert Bowers, who carried out the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue shooting during which he murdered 11 Jewish worshippers.

If convicted, Molloy faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and up to eight years in prison for making false statements involving international terrorism.

The FBI is investigating the case with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. Molloy was arrested in Chicago on December 6th, 2024, and transported to Pittsburgh on December 30th, 2024. He is currently in federal custody.
