CLEARWATER, FL. – Former pro wrestler, Hulk Hogan, filed a Hillsborough County “Petition for Extension of Statute of Limitations” on April 13, which was granted by the court the same day.

Under his birth name, Terry G. Bollea, the petition requested a 90-day extension to file a potential medical malpractice lawsuit. Florida’s statute of limitations to file a legal complaint of medical malpractice is two years. Hogan’s petition is asking for more time to “allow reasonable investigation” as required by Florida Statute 766.104.

The potential Defendant’s medical practice is not disclosed in the petition. But an address listed on its online docket suggests the party subject to suit is Florida Medical Clinic located at 14547 Bruce B. Downs Boulevard in Tampa.

On January 14, 2013, Hogan sued Tampa-based Laser Spine Institute for ineffective and unnecessary outpatient surgeries that he claimed cost him over $50 million dollars in past and potential income. Hogan simultaneously sued for the unauthorized publication of his name or likeness, according to his lawsuit filed in the Pinellas County courts.

The Free Press previously reported on Laser Spine Institute’s continuous woes with lawsuits, even after declaring itself defunct. Various news reports have indicated that Hogan financially settled out of court for an undisclosed amount in 2015.

Pinellas County court records show a dismissal of the case with prejudice presumably due to the settlement.

According to HulkHoganHistory.weebly.com, Hogan has undergone eight left and right knee surgeries, nine back surgeries, two hip surgeries, and an elbow and shoulder surgery. His operations have included the replacement of a knee and hip.

Hogan’s attorneys are Wil H. Florin and Shaun M. Cummings of Florin Roebig, P.A., Palm Harbor. The Free Press attempted to make contact, but there was no response.
