Former Princeton Football Star Tiger Bech Among Victims Of New Orleans Terror Attack

Tiger Bech, a former Princeton football standout, was tragically killed in the New Orleans terror attack on New Year’s Day. The 28-year-old was visiting the city during the holiday season.  

Bech, a beloved figure at Princeton, was known for his energy, determination, and athletic prowess. During his college football career from 2016 to 2018, he excelled as a kick returner and wide receiver, earning All-Ivy League honors.

“He might be the first Tiger to ever play for us, and that nickname kind of described him as a competitor,” said Princeton head coach Bob Surace. “He was somebody that somehow, like in the key moments, just excelled and was full of energy, full of life.”

Following his college career, Bech pursued a successful career as a stockbroker in New York City. His dedication to his alma mater was evident as he often returned to Princeton to mentor current players.

The attack occurred around 3:15 AM in the French Quarter, a popular tourist destination. A vehicle plowed into a crowd of revelers, and the suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, engaged in a shootout with police before being killed.

At least ten people lost their lives in the attack.
