Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Draws Left-Love While Seeking GOP Nomination

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed conservative businessman Vivek Ramaswamy during the GOP presidential debate Wednesday evening over his stance on climate change, comparing him to former President Barack Obama and calling him an “amateur.”

The media seeks to prop up former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the leading anti-Trump candidate in the Republican presidential primary. But so far the voters on the right aren’t buying it.

As the Tampa Free Press reported last month, Christie snagged the title of worst performer at the first GOP debate, named such by 22% of the 775 GOP voters polled after the event.

If that wasn’t enough to make Christie the longest of long shots in the race former President Donald Trump dominates at the moment by roughly 40 points, Christie has picked up a new endorsement.

From “The View.”

As The Blaze reported on Wednesday, “The View” co-host Joy Behar said during a podcast interview about the daytime show’s upcoming season that she was “excited” to have Christie on the show.

“I want to say to Chris Christie, ‘Sir, you have been a champion to the left right now because you have told the truth about Donald Trump,'” Behar said.

But Behar is not alone among liberals in her admiration for Christie, whose most famous moment as a politician arguably came when he embraced former President Barack Obama as Obama toured the area devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Politico reported on Monday that Christie “has seen his popularity soar with Democrats. Whereas Democrats once considered him a bully, a threat and an opportunistic apologist for Donald Trump, they now can’t get enough of his new Trump-bashing persona.”

Democrats, Politico added, “are among the biggest boosters of Christie’s presidential bid.” A recent New York Times poll found that 24% of Democrats would vote for Christie as the GOP nominee.

While 22% of Republicans dubbed Christie the worst at the debate in August, 12% of Democrats said he actually won the night in Milwaukee.

And Christie is returning the love, apparently.

A Christie campaign official, who refused to be identified, told Politico, “If Democrats want to donate or vote for him, we’re open to that.”
