Michele M. Rose, 62, of Jasper, Indiana, has been sentenced to over a year in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution for stealing over $153,000 from her employer over a decade.
Rose, who worked as a Medical Staff Coordinator at a Jasper healthcare organization, abused her position to write fraudulent checks to herself from a medical staff account. She falsely claimed these checks were for business expenses, but instead used the money for personal needs.

The stolen funds were meant for community initiatives such as scholarships, food banks, and events for local students. Rose’s actions deprived the Jasper community of these much-needed resources.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana emphasized the impact of such crimes, stating that embezzlement and fraud by trusted individuals can have devastating consequences. He commended the collaborative efforts of the U.S. Secret Service, Jasper Police Department, and federal prosecutors in bringing Rose to justice.
