The latest liberal judge to toss former President Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot was not just a Democratic Party activist. She also built her career hearing traffic cases before recently dipping her political toe into the complex waters of constitutional law.

As Breitbart News reported this week, Cook County Circuit Judge Tracie Porter threw Trump off the state’s ballot to appease left-wing activists from a group called Free Speech for People who saw their cause wholly rejected by election officials in Illinois and Michigan.

Trump has appealed the ruling, even as he awaits a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that will likely go his way.

Porter’s decision came about a month after the Illinois State Board of Elections voted unanimously to keep Trump on the ballot.

Yet Porter, who did not become a judge until 2021, declared Trump ineligible because was an “insurrectionist” under the 14th Amendment.

Despite liberals routinely using that label, insurrection is an actual federal crime, one that Trump has never been charged with or convicted of violating in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Porter, however, disagreed with that fact, as well as her own state’s Election Board and other judges who have rejected such claims by leftists.

Not only did she mandate that Trump be removed from the ballot but also that the Election Board “cause any votes cast for him to be suppressed.”

After the decision, Forbes took a look at Porter’s background, and reported that she is little more than a robe-wearing Democrat activist.

The outlet noted that Porter is a native of Chicago’s South Side who after law school spent four years in the 1990s working for the Clinton administration.

After years in private practice and as a law professor, the Illinois Supreme Court in November 2021 appointed her to a traffic court post where she heard minor traffic cases.

In 2022, she ran unopposed for a vacancy on the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago.

Porter’s profile on the Cook County Democratic Party’s website also notes that her legal work has delved into the “school-to-prison pipeline,” voter rights, and mortgage short sales as related to the Great Recession.

She also has served as a board member for nonprofit groups that promote cancer support, “environmental sustainability and tree planting,” and “preparing high school/college students for entrance into professional sports.”

As The Western Journal noted, when Porter ran for judge, she said, “My motto is impacting lives and changing communities and that is how I will approach this new position.”
