HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a road rage incident that led to the arrest of a former HCSO deputy who Hillsborough County Public Schools now employ.

The incident occurred on April 6, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m. A victim and her two teenage children were driving southbound on Bell Shoals Road when they approached a red light at the intersection with Fishhawk Boulevard. When the light turned green, the vehicle in front of them reportedly failed to proceed, prompting the victim to honk her horn.

Both vehicles continued onto Fishhawk Boulevard, and the passenger in the other vehicle began yelling at the victim.

At a subsequent red light at the intersection of Fishhawk Boulevard and Mosaic Drive, the passenger from the suspect’s vehicle allegedly threw a bottle at the victim, striking her in the head. The impact caused a raised contusion and an abrasion.

The suspect was identified through investigative work as Brandon Scott Parker, 47. Parker is a former deputy with the HCSO, where he was employed from 2003 to 2016, and is currently employed by Hillsborough County Public Schools.

On April 7, 2025, Parker was arrested and charged with Throwing a Deadly Missile at or Into an Occupied Conveyance.

“This type of violent behavior is absolutely unacceptable, especially from someone who once wore a badge,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “There is no excuse for escalating a traffic dispute into an act that caused injury to an innocent driver. No one is above the law, and we will hold individuals accountable for their actions, regardless of their past or current affiliations.”
