Former Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz will join One America News Network (OAN) as part of its primetime lineup in January 2025. OAN announced Tuesday that Gaetz will host a nightly program, The Matt Gaetz Show, airing at 9 p.m. EST.

The network hired Gaetz following his resignation from Congress and his decision to withdraw from consideration for U.S. attorney general under President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming administration.

“With Matt Gaetz rounding out OAN’s primetime lineup, the network is poised for a groundbreaking 2025, reaffirming its mission to deliver credible, independent news and unfiltered commentary to audiences across the nation,” OAN stated in a press release.

Gaetz expressed enthusiasm about his new role, highlighting OAN’s innovative approach to media. “OAN is blazing a trail in media, embracing not just traditional news but the platforms where Americans are going—streaming, apps, podcasts, and social media,” Gaetz said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to join OAN’s forward-thinking team and be part of this revolutionary expansion.”

In addition to hosting his primetime show, Gaetz will co-host a podcast with OAN’s Dan Ball, aimed at engaging younger audiences.

Charles Herring, President of OAN, praised Gaetz’s addition to the network. “Matt is a remarkable talent and a principled leader. His insider access to America’s top policymakers and unwavering dedication to America-first values will bring unparalleled insight and exclusive content to OAN viewers. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the OAN family.”

Gaetz, who represented Florida in Congress since January 2017, resigned from his seat on November 13 after being nominated by Trump for attorney general. His resignation followed an investigation by the House Ethics Committee into allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use, though the committee did not release its findings.

The Department of Justice announced in February 2023 that Gaetz would not face charges related to allegations by Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector who had pleaded guilty to several crimes, including sex trafficking. Gaetz has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

On November 21, Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration for attorney general, stating that the nomination process had “unfairly become a distraction.”

Gaetz’s new role at OAN marks a significant shift for the former congressman, who has been known for his vocal support of Trump, his America-first policies, and his combative political style. With his addition, OAN aims to enhance its reach and influence in conservative media.
