A former professional caregiver in Florida has been arrested and charged with more than 30 felonies after it was discovered she had been stealing from one of her clients.

A former professional caregiver in Florida has been arrested and charged with more than 30 felonies after it was discovered she had been stealing from one of her clients.

Melissa Amy Derouin, 40, of Sebring, Florida, was arrested on Thursday.

The investigation dates back to December of 2021 when the 95-year-old victim noticed the fraudulent charges on one of her credit cards.

Derouin used the card to purchase more than $7,500 worth of goods and services — ranging from razors and pacifiers to two separate family trips to Minnesota.

Deputies say she even purchased travel insurance for the trip with the victim’s credit card.

Derouin, has been charged with 21 counts of criminal use of personal identification, 11 counts of theft from a person age 65 or older, and single counts of obtaining a credit card through fraudulent means and fraudulent use of credit cards.
