Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has taken the reins of a pro-Trump group in Florida.

Bondi will lead the Florida chapter of the America First Policy Institute,  a national think tank founded by former Trump administration officials, according to the Florida Daily.

According to its website, “AFPI exists to advance policies that put the American people first. Our guiding principles are liberty, free enterprise, national greatness, American military superiority, foreign-policy engagement in the American interest, and the primacy of American workers, families, and communities in all we do.”

Bondi told Florida Daily, “At a time when our communities value safety, opportunity, and freedom more than ever before, the commitment of the America First Policy Institute to Florida demonstrates a determination few entities are willing to consider these days.”

“As we look to better the lives of all Floridians, I’m honored to be able to contribute to AFPI’s efforts to help the state continue to flourish and further the America First movement.”

Bondi served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019. Prior to this role, Bondi served as AFPI’s chairwoman for the Constitutional Litigation Partnership and co-chairwoman of the Center for Law and Justice.

According to AFPI’s website, the group’s priorities for Florida include taming the rising cost of living, making healthcare pricing more transparent and advocating “licensing recognition” to bring more healthcare professionals into the state, exploring performance-based funding for schools and pushing for reform in teacher training, and enhancing public safety and combating human trafficking.

AFPI also has state chapters in Arizona, California, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

The Florida group also noted that businessman Omeed Malik will serve as co-chairman of the Florida chapter of AFPI, and that Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Cabrera will serve as state director, Florida Daily reported.

The leadership of the national AFPI organization includes top officials who served under former President Donald Trump, such as Linda McMahon, former administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Larry Kudlow, former director of the National Economic Council; Chad Wolf, former acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
