Former Carnival Cruise Employee Pleads Guilty In Louisiana To Child Pornography Possession

A former Carnival Cruise Lines employee has pleaded guilty to possessing materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors.

Abdul Rouvoof Shaik, a 30-year-old Indian national, entered his plea on January 8th, 2025. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a lifetime of supervised release.

Shaik was arrested in July 2024 at the Erato Street Cruise Terminal in New Orleans after special agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations found him in possession of child pornography.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
