A former ATM technician, Johnson Saint-Louis, 39, of Deerfield Beach, has been sentenced to 14 years and 3 months in federal prison for bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition used in the crime.

Saint-Louis, who had been found guilty by a jury in May, used his inside knowledge to target ATMs in the southeast. In February 2021, he robbed a bank in Longwood, Florida, by manipulating an ATM to malfunction and then ambushing the technician who arrived to fix it.

Saint-Louis stole approximately $135,530.

The FBI’s investigation into the robberies led to Saint-Louis being surveilled by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. During a traffic stop in November 2021, deputies found a firearm with obscured serial numbers and documents listing bank branches and ATM manufacturers in his car.

This case was a collaborative effort between the FBI, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tallahassee Police Department, and is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence.
