Florida state Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo has denounced the Biden administration as “truly irresponsible” for advocating the latest COVID-19 vaccines when there is scant evidence to support their effectiveness, and lingering questions about the efficacy of the first generation of vaccines.

Ladapo commented recently on the pending news that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was set to green-light two new “updated” COVID mRNA vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna.

The FDA made that announcement on Monday. President Joe Biden followed that on Tuesday with a statement praising the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for authorizing the vaccines.

“Since entering office, my Administration has made historic progress in our ability to manage COVID-19 so that it no longer meaningfully disrupts our lives. Today marks another important milestone,” Biden said in a statement, noting both agencies encouraged vaccines for everyone 6 months and older.

“Vaccination against COVID-19 remains the most important protection in avoiding hospitalization, long-term health complications, and death. I encourage all Americans to stay up-to-date on their vaccines.”

Yet Dr. Ladapo, at a recent press conference with Gov. Ron DeSantis, took the opposite view.

As reported by The Epoch Times over the weekend, Ladapo said there was “no evidence” the vaccines approved on Monday were safe.

“We all know there’s a new vaccine that’s coming around the corner, [a] new mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. And there’s essentially no evidence for it. There’s been no clinical trial done in human beings showing that it benefits people, there’s been no clinical trial showing that it is a safe product for people. And not only that, but then there are a lot of red flags,” Ladapo said recently.

“So something that you don’t hear much about,” he added, is that “there are multiple studies now from around the world, Brazil, Australia, United States that show that over time these vaccines, these mRNA COVID-19 products actually increase your chances of contracting COVID-19.”

“That’s not normal and, unfortunately, you’re going to have people who are going to get on television and try to explain why you should be comfortable with taking a product that ultimately, like its predecessors, increases your chance of contracting something.”

“When they try to convince you to be comfortable and agree with things that don’t feel comfortable and don’t feel like things you should agree with, that’s a sign,” Ladapo continued. “And I encourage you and certainly beg and hope that you do listen to it because it will serve you right.”

Ladapo added, “It’s unsafe and it’s truly irresponsible for FDA, CDC, and others to be championing something like that when we don’t know the implications of it. … It’s just completely irresponsible to be pushing something like that.”
