A Florida woman is cooling off in jail after torching a home following a heated argument.
According to deputies, on Sunday night, Lee County Sheriff’s deputies along with North Fort Myers Fire Control District responded to a residential fire along Slater Road.
Residents at the home reported that 51-year-old Nicole Sosa became heated over relationship issues.
Sosa used a torch to ignite a gasoline-soaked t-shirt and threw it at a door to the residence. Sosa initially fled the scene but returned a short time later. North District detectives investigated the scene and charged Sosa with arson.
“This ball of fire thought she could torch this residence and get away with it,” stated Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “She’ll be cooling off at the Marceno Motel.”
Sosa was booked in the Lee County Jail and is being held with a $75,000 bond. She is a career offender and criminal registrant, according to deputies.
