A Florida woman is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR” scratch-off game.
Shawandra Nichols, 48, of Clearwater, chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. She purchased the lucky ticket at the Walmart located at 1803 North Highland Avenue in Clearwater. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The “$1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR” is a $50 scratch-off game with two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. The game boasts over $1.6 billion in total cash prizes and has overall odds of winning of 1-in-4.50.
Scratch-off games account for approximately 74% of ticket sales and a significant portion of the Florida Lottery’s revenue. Since their inception, scratch-off games have awarded over $63.1 billion in prizes, created over 2,175 millionaires, and generated over $19.24 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
