A Florida woman’s $5 investment turned into a life-changing win. The Florida Lottery announced that Rebecca Clarke, 37, of Santa Rosa Beach, claimed a $1 million top prize from the BONUS LETTER CROSSWORD Scratch-Off game.

Clarke chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment totaling $640,000.00. She collected her prize at the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

The winning ticket was purchased locally at the Cumberland Farms located at 42 U.S. Highway 98 W. in Santa Rosa Beach. As a result of selling the million-dollar ticket, the Cumberland Farms location will receive a $2,000 bonus commission from the Lottery.

The $5 BONUS LETTER CROSSWORD game, which made Clarke a millionaire, offers players the chance to win instantly, featuring 10 top prizes of $1 million each.

According to the Florida Lottery, the game includes over $76.6 million in total cash prizes, with more than 5.4 million winning tickets available. The overall odds of winning any prize on this particular game are 1-in-4.00.

Scratch-off games remain incredibly popular in Florida, representing approximately 74 percent of the Lottery’s ticket sales during the 2023-2024 fiscal year.

Since the Florida Lottery’s inception, Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes and have been responsible for creating 2,283 millionaires across the state. Furthermore, these games have generated significant funding for education, contributing over $19.8 billion to Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
