Florida Woman, Postal Worker Arrested After Mom Finds ‘Rifled Through’ Mail In Her Bedroom

A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with stealing mail and is facing federal prison time.

According to United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg, a 25-year-old from Ocklawaha, was arrested for theft of mail by a postal employee.

If convicted, Farleigh faces a maximum sentence of five years in federal prison.

According to court documents, Farleigh worked as a contract employee of the United States Postal Service (USPS) delivering mail for the Lady Lake Post Office.

Farleigh’s route included mail delivery services to postal stations in The Villages.

On or about November 23, 2021, Farleigh’s mon told her supervisor that she discovered several tubs and bags of U.S Mail in Farleigh’s bedroom, that had been rifled through.

Farleigh admitted to authorities that she had been opening outgoing mail with the intent to steal money and gift cards.

According to the complaint, on November 26, the recovered US mail was examined by postal inspectors and found that around 4,000 pieces of mail had been opened.

Inspectors say that nearly all of the envelopes appeared to hold greeting cards or holiday cards.

This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert E. Bodnar, Jr.

  1. SAD that individuals like her are granted a position of trust and it is violated. Prison is the place for her. Our mail carrier, Jennifer, is the BEST. Our 20-month-old G Grandson is in awe of her. Every day he insists that his G Grandmother take him out to greet her at our mailbox. He recognizes the sound of her mail truck long before she arrives. For Halloween, his mother bought him a mail carrier uniform. He was so proud that he ran out in his uniform to show it off, They have quite a rapport. There are so many good ones that it is sad that a thief spoils it for others. Thank you Jennifer!
