Florida Woman Killed, Another Injured After Dog “Snaps” At Animal Shelter

A woman at a Florida shelter for abandoned dogs was killed in a dog attack that injured another person on Thursday morning.

Pam Robb was fatally injured when a dog “suddenly snapped” around 11:00 am, and began biting her at the 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida shelter in Oakland Park at just before 11 a.m., according to CBS Miami.

A second woman suffered minor injuries when she attempted to help Robb, who worked at the shelter caring for animals, Broward Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Claudinne Caro told CBS Miami.

“The two adult females are workers. One of them was working with the dog when apparently the dog suddenly snapped. The second adult female tried to aid the worker, but in the process, she herself got injured,” said Caro.

Both women were taken to hospital by Oakland Fire Rescue personnel, where Robb was pronounced dead, Local 10 reported.

According to reports, the dog was a large 125-pound mixed breed animal that had recently been rescued after it was found alone in the Everglades and brought to the Oakland Park facility, Local 10 said.

“What I understand is the dog was a rescue and this is the first time the dog had some sort of incident like this where he snaps,” said Caro.

“She wasn’t just doing, she was being – she was being Pam Robb, a wonderful giving, caring person,” said Robb’s wife, Angie Anobile to CBS.

On Facebook, the shelter said, “Our Hearts are Broken for our Dear Friend Pam. our deepest condolences to her family & friends. We are All grieving & ask for you to please give us time to process this great misfortune & loss of our Dear friend. We thank you for your love & patience.”

“She had a love for those animals, she really did, and they responded very well to her. This was just a fluke accident. No one did anything out of the ordinary.”

CBS Miami reported that the dog, who was named Gladys, was transported to Broward Animal Care in Broward County, Florida, where it was euthanized.

The dog, named Gladys, was taken to Broward Animal Care where it was euthanized. A blodd sample has been sent off to see if the dog had rabies.
