A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit claiming she became seriously ill after consuming cucumbers allegedly contaminated with Salmonella.

Melissa Milligan filed the suit on July 10 in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, naming Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc., Bedner Growers, Inc., and John Does 1-10 as defendants.

Milligan alleges that she contracted a Salmonella infection after eating cucumbers distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales and grown by Bedner Growers.

According to the complaint, the cucumbers were contaminated with Salmonella, leading to a widespread outbreak that affected multiple states. While no deaths were reported, 551 people were sickened, and 155 required hospitalization. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed that the outbreak, which also prompted a recall, has since ended.

Milligan is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for personal injuries sustained as a result of the infection. Jordan Chaikin of Chaikin Law Firm is representing the plaintiff in the case.
