A Florida woman was arrested after a routine traffic stop routed a K9 to methamphetamine.
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, at approximately 10:06 pm, Calhoun County Sheriff Deputy Ayers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Clarksville.
Deputy Ayers identified the driver as Melanie Barfield Tatum.
During the traffic stop, Deputy Ayers deployed K9 Olly to conduct a free-air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle. Subsequently, K9 Olly was alerted to the odor of narcotics within the vehicle, deputies say.

During a vehicle search, Deputy Ayers located three separate bags containing methamphetamine.
Deputy Ayers did find probable cause to charge Melanie Barfield Tatum with Possession of Methamphetamine.
