Florida Woman Arrested For Hit And Run, Cocaine Charges

A 30-year-old Islamorada woman was arrested Friday after striking a pedestrian and driving away.

A 30-year-old Florida woman was arrested Friday after striking a pedestrian and driving away.

Shannon Jessie Keegan, 30, Islamorada, was charged with hit and run, aggravated battery, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified at approximately 9:20 p.m. of a hit and run near the Whistle Stop Pub in Islamorada.

The 48-year-old male pedestrian told deputies that a woman in a Honda Civic struck him while traveling approximately 35 mph.

“The victim had bruises that were consistent with being struck. He stated the suspect was arguing with a male in the bar parking lot before he was struck,” said MCSO.

The victim did not suffer life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

The suspect vehicle was stopped near Mile Marker 86 on U.S. 1. Keegan was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. She admitted to deputies that she had been in an argument at the Whistle Stop and struck a man while leaving.

Keegan was booked into the Monroe County Jail.
