A cyberstalking investigation led investigators to sexually explicit pictures, messages to family and friends, and threats to expose private information to the victim’s employer.
Meet 29-year-old Iris Rodriguez.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were looking into allegations that Rodriguez “sent several harassing emails to the identified victim and her husband. Additional emails and messages were sent to the victim’s family and friends causing substantial emotional distress to [the victim] and sending no legitimate purpose.”
Investigators say that the victim’s husband knew Rodriguez, but no longer wanted contact with her.
According to investigators, “They both told Rodriguez to stop coming to their house and calling them. They blocked her from their cellphones and all social media accounts.”
“The victim said Rodriguez continued to text their cellphones so they both changed their cellphone numbers. After that Rodriguez then started to reach out to their extended family members on social media, mainly through Facebook and instant messages. Rodriguez sent sexually explicit images to the victim’s father and his company website,” said investigators.
“Both (husband and wife) stated that it is a sexually explicit picture of them and it was taken in their home. They believe Rodriguez took the photo off of somebody’s (we can assume the husband) cellphone without his permission and they did not give Rodriguez consent to share this photo with anyone.”
An email sent from Rodriguez to the victim’s husband said, “You thought I’d forgotten about you, you also deserve to know the truth of the kind of woman you chose for your child’s mother, while you think I deserve mercy and respect, the evidence proves otherwise, is already rolling on all social networks, (victims profile) profile, having sex with men and women for money, I wonder how this will look at her work I don’t think they want a woman with such little value to work for such a prestigious college, and as it will look at your job, where you carry a faint profile, you know it’s my moral duty as a good citizen, to share the truth about the kind of scum you have as a wife. I have plenty of evidence but I will start providing you this one first. Stay attentive and wait for the videos and photos to come.“
Investigators say that the email contained a sexually explicit photo of the female victim, without her consent.
“Rodriguez continued to try and contact them and wanted (husband) to leave (wife, victim) for her. Rodriguez shared images she obtained while they were together with Iris’s extended family for the purposes of hurting her. The husband and wife decided to apply for a restraining order because of the ongoing issues with Rodriguez. During the court hearing, Rodriguez admitted to harassing the couple by sending multiple emails and messages and the judge granted the protection order,” the investigator said.
Rodriguez admitted to emails and messages to the family to investigators.
She was booked earlier this week on charges of Cyberstalking and Sexual Cyber Harassment.
