Florida Woman Arrested After Battering Home Healthcare Nurse With Filled Urinal

A 60-year-old Florida woman has been arrested after she and her 83-year-old male roommate got into a scuffle, and a home healthcare nurse became collateral damage.

Beth Redden, 60, and her 83-year-old male roommate’s confrontation started inside the trailer that the pair shares in 55+ Teakwood Village Mobile Home Park located in Largo, Pinellas County on Wednesday.

According to a responding Largo Police Officer, Redden started to throw items including a metal cane and soda cans at her roommate, striking but not injuring the man.

A third person, a home healthcare nurse who was in the residence, attempted to intervene and Redden let loose her, striking the nurse in the stomach multiple times. Officers say the nurse tried to “disengage” but Redden had other plans.

Officers say that a handheld urinal, filled with the 83-year-old man’s urine, was within arm’s reach of Redden which she then threw at the nurse striking her, and soaking her.

The responding officer said that upon arrival, the nurse was covered in a wet liquid.

“In addition, the residence did have a faint smell. Based on my training and experience, I was able to identify as urine,” said the officer in the affidavit.

60-year-old Redden was booked into Pinellas County Jail on two felony counts of Battering Victims Aged 65 or Older.
