Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a wrong-way crash that happened on I-75 overnight and left two people seriously injured.

Troopers say a Lexus IS sedan, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75, south of SR-56.  Near Milepost 272, around 3:42 a.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Lexus, driven by a 21-year-old Wesley Chapel man, collided head-on with a Chevy Colorado, traveling northbound in the inside lane. 

After the initial impact, the Chevy rotated into the median and caught fire, while the Lexus traveled into the center lane.

Once in the center lane, the Lexus collided nearly head-on with a Hyundai Santa Fe before coming to stop. 

The drivers of the Lexus, a 21-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, and Chevy, a 37-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, suffered serious injury as a result of the crash.

Troopers say the driver of the Santa Fe, a 36-year-old Zephyrhills woman, was uninjured. 

It is unknown where the Lexus driver began traveling in the wrong direction, and impairment is suspected.
