Florida Unemployment Claims Drop To Lowest Level Since February

Florida recorded its fewest new unemployment claims last week since February, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

For the week ending August 3, there were an estimated 5,095 initial filings, a significant drop from the previous two weeks.

This is the lowest figure since the week of February 24, which included the Presidents’ Day holiday.

Nationally, new unemployment claims also decreased, totaling 233,000 for the week. However, the national unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.3% in July.

Florida’s July unemployment rate will be released on August 16, with the previous three months holding steady at 3.3%.
