Florida Troopers: Road Rage Turns Into Shooting On I-275, 1 Person Grazed With Bullet

TAMPA, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are seeking witnesses after two drivers' road rage incident turned into a shooting on I-275 in Tampa. One person was grazed by a bullet.

TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are seeking witnesses after two drivers’ road rage incident turned into a shooting on I-275 in Tampa. One person was grazed by a bullet.

On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, just after 3:00 PM, a dark blue Chevy Traverse inadvertently cut off a white Toyota Camry while entering northbound I-275 from Howard Avenue. 

Troopers say a road rage incident began and after turning east on I-4 both drivers displayed firearms at each other.

Both drivers fired at each other with the Toyota driver striking the Chevy. 

A bullet penetrated the Chevy and grazed the driver who suffered minor injuries and was not transported for medical care. 

Both drivers were compliant with the on-going investigation and no arrests have been made. 

The FHP is asking for any witnesses to the incident contact the Highway Patrol by calling *FHP or 813-558-1800.
