A Zephyrhills man has been arrested for DUI after driving drunk the wrong way on I-75 overnight. A Florida Highway Patrol was able to stop the man before a tragic accident occurred.
According to investigators, on Saturday, at 2:40 AM, Troopers received reports of a wrong-way driver traveling northbound on I-275 near Milepost 50 in the southbound lanes.
Troopers responded to the area as the driver proceeded northbound, entering I-75 and continuing northbound in the southbound lanes.

Near Milepost 276, north of State Road 56, a Trooper intercepted a red 2021 Toyota Camry by positioning his vehicle in the path of the wrong-way driver.
The wrong-way driver failed to evade the Trooper and collided with the left side of the patrol car.
The Trooper, a four-year veteran, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to an area hospital.
The wrong-way driver, Adonis Francisco Adames, aged 23 of Zephyrhills, suffering no injuries, was later arrested by FHP Troopers for Driving in the Wrong Direction and DUI after providing a breath sample of 0.148.
