Florida Teens Arrested After Watercraft Theft And Joyride, Causing $10K In Damage

Two 14-year-old boys were arrested Sunday evening after stealing two personal watercraft and causing significant damage to one of them.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on the 1200 block of the Overseas Highway around 7:11 p.m., reporting the theft. A witness pursued the suspects, identified as Charles Jacob Wallace Buttner and Jean Claros Figueredo, on another watercraft.

The teens abandoned the stolen watercraft near the 1100 block of the Overseas Highway, causing an estimated $10,000 in damages to one of teh skis, before fleeing on foot.

Both suspects were apprehended shortly after.

Buttner and Figueredo, both residents of Marathon, have been charged with grand theft, burglary, and criminal mischief.
