Florida has doled out nearly $9.2 million in matching funds to statewide candidates with less than two months before the Nov. 8 elections, according to numbers reported Wednesday by the state Division of Elections.

The total is close to the $9.85 million in matching funds provided in 2018 and more than doubles the $4.34 million provided in 2014. Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to be the biggest beneficiary of the program, receiving $338,391 last week to raise his matching-fund total to just under $5.55 million.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist got $225,061 last week, bringing his matching-fund total to $1.934 million.

Among other candidates, Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody has received the most money, at $254,223.

The program provides matches to contributions of $250 or less from individuals to statewide candidates’ campaign accounts. Gubernatorial candidates are ineligible for the money until they collect $150,000 in contributions.

For state Cabinet candidates, the threshold is $100,000. Matching funds are not available for contributions to political committees or outside of statewide races.
