Florida drivers can now showcase their support for Israel with the new “Florida Stands with Israel” specialty license plate. The Israeli-American Council (IAC) announced that the plates are ready for production and distribution after reaching the required 3,000 pre-orders.

The IAC, through its advocacy arm IAC For Action, championed the creation of these plates, collaborating with Florida legislators.

Governor Ron DeSantis, who signed the legislation in 2020, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting the strong bond between Florida and Israel.

“I’m pleased to announce that the ‘Florida Stands with Israel’ license plate has reached the threshold for production. Florida and Israel share a special bond and lasting friendship,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis, who signed the legislation for the Israel solidarity tags.

“Four years ago, we set out to create a tangible symbol of Florida’s support for Israel. Today, we’re proud to see our vision become reality,” said IAC CEO Elan Carr, the former U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. “This license plate is a testament to the enduring friendship between Florida and Israel, and our organization’s commitment to strengthening that bond. As these plates begin to appear on vehicles across Florida, they will serve as mobile reminders of the strong ties between Florida and Israel and reflect the shared values that unite our communities.”

The plate, designed by FSU graduate Daniel Ackerman, features the Florida state flower, the orange blossom, intertwined with the Israeli flag, symbolizing the connection between the two regions.

Pre-ordered plates will be available for pickup at Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) offices across the state between late January and mid-February 2025. Those who pre-ordered will pay the remaining balance of $36.90 upon pickup.

Beyond demonstrating solidarity with Israel, the plates also contribute to a worthy cause. $25 from each plate sale will benefit Hatzalah South Florida, a volunteer emergency medical service that provides rapid response to callers of all faiths and backgrounds.
