Florida Sheriff Says Man Who Cut Off Ankle Monitor “Ran Like A Little Baby”

A Florida man who cut off his ankle monitoring bracelet “ran like a little baby” to a bondsman according to investigators.

“Well, apparently Steven Sylvester didn’t want to be the “bite taken out of crime” as after being hunted and stalked by our Fugitive Unit and G.A.M.E. O.V.E.R. Task Force for cutting off his ankle monitor, he ran like a little baby to a local bondsman saying that he was scared the Sheriff’s Office Task Force was going to find him and then send a K-9 in to bite him,” according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

“Sylvester is a lot smarter than he looks as he is in Brevard County and we strongly subscribe to the “Mess Around And Find Out” theory, especially with someone who cuts off their ankle monitor and runs to avoid going to prison while they are out of jail on a ton of charges including Racketeering and Conspiracy to Traffic in Meth,” Ivey said.

Sylvester is no stranger to law enforcement and was awaiting a hearing for multiple felony charges when he cut off his monitoring device, including resisting an officer with violence, fleeing and eluding police, criminal mischief, domestic violence, prowling, and grand theft.

“Sylvester is now back in jail with “No Bond” on some additional charges of escape and tampering with a electronic monitoring device . The sad part is that our K-9 Unit didn’t get a chance to help find Mr. Sylvester, as they love taking a bite out of crime,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
