Florida Sen. Rick Scott turned up in New York City on Thursday to support former President Donald Trump during his alleged hush-money trial involving former porn star Stormy Daniels.

The Florida Republican stood by Trump and even rode with him to the Manhattan courthouse.

“I’m here because I have known Donald Trump a long time,” Scott told reporters outside the courthouse.

“I knew him before I was governor. I consider him a friend. And what he is going through is just despicable.”

“It’s a crime in this country to use a court system to go after your political opponents,” Scott continued. “What’s happening in this courtroom is clearly criminal.”

“It’s been led by political thugs,” Scott added.

The first-term senator then noted the close ties between the judge and the prosecutors to Democratic politicians, including supporting President Joe Biden.

“This is just a bunch of Democrats saying, ‘We want to make sure that Donald Trump can’t talk,” said Scott.

“They’ve got a gag order so he can’t go campaign,” Scott continued. They have him holed up in a courtroom so Joe Biden (can) go campaign, but Donald Trump can’t.”

“We know that President Biden can’t win this election fair and square. He has nothing to run on. And we know President Trump has a record. He secured the border. He had a great economy. We weren’t at war,” Scott added.

“So that’s why this is happening. Joe Biden knows that he can’t win this election.”
