A group of Republican Senators, led by Senator Rick Scott, have joined forces to reaffirm their support for continued nationwide access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).
This joint statement, co-signed by Senators Katie Britt and Ted Cruz, along with a majority of their GOP colleagues, clearly states that access to this crucial family-building technology will remain a priority for the Republican Party.
The senators’ statement directly addresses the “Summer of Scare Tactics” – a perceived partisan campaign of “false fearmongering” intended to mislead and confuse the American people regarding the availability of IVF.

They firmly assert that in vitro fertilization is legal and accessible in every state across the nation, and they stand united in their support for continued nationwide access to this life-changing medical procedure.
“Senate Democrats have embraced a Summer of Scare Tactics—a partisan campaign of false fearmongering intended to mislead and confuse the American people. In vitro fertilization is legal and available in every state across our nation. We strongly support continued nationwide access to IVF, which has allowed millions of aspiring parents to start and grow their families,” said the lawmakers.
Senator Rick Scott’s Personal Connection
Senator Rick Scott’s personal connection to the issue adds further weight to the statement. As the father of a daughter who is currently utilizing IVF to grow her family, Scott has a deep understanding of the transformative impact this technology can have on individuals and families.
“IVF is a wonderful thing that enables so many Americans struggling with infertility to have children and start a family,” said Scott. “For me, it’s personal. My youngest daughter has been undergoing IVF treatments to grow her family. But she is just one of countless Floridians and Americans using IVF to grow their families and bring life into the world.

“While IVF remains available in all 50 states and there isn’t any credible threat to that, I believe it is important for the Senate to make clear our unwavering support for current and aspiring parents using IVF to start and grow their families. We ought to celebrate Americans trying to grow their families. I am proud to lead a resolution in the Senate doing just that,” Scott said.
In addition to the joint statement, Senator Scott has announced his work on drafting legislation to help individuals and families better plan and pay for medical expenses, including IVF.
The proposed legislation aims to decouple Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) from high-deductible health plans and increase the current contribution limits on HSAs, making it easier for aspiring parents to access and afford the necessary fertility treatments.
Earlier this year, Senator Rick Scott introduced a resolution in the U.S. Senate expressing support for Americans who are starting and growing families through in vitro fertilization.
This resolution has found a bipartisan counterpart in the House of Representatives, where Representative Kat Cammack is leading a similar effort, further solidifying the cross-aisle commitment to IVF access.
