Florida Senator Rick Scott joined Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina in introducing a resolution condemning the recent explosion of antisemitism on college campuses in the United States.

The resolution calls out university presidents who have enabled and refused to take action against this antisemitism and urges the Biden Department of Education to take the necessary steps to ensure that colleges and universities comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act to protect Jewish students.

Senator Scott met with Jewish and pro-Israel students at George Washington University to hear their concerns about their safety and discuss his support for Israel, his fight to stop the rise of illegal university encampments that have resulted in horrific antisemitic verbal and physical attacks, and his actions to ensure Jewish students’ safety.

“Jewish students deserve to be safe on campus. Colleges and universities MUST hold these lawless, terrorist sympathizers accountable and install leadership that protects students without hesitation,” said Sen. Rick Scott.

“I won’t stop condemning the recent explosion of antisemitism on college campuses, calling out university presidents who’ve enabled & refused to take action & urging the Biden Dept of Education to ensure Jewish students are protected,” said Scott.

Senator Rick Scott has been adamant about protecting students at American schools and universities who continue to face threats from terrorist supporters calling for the annihilation of Jews and the destruction of Israel. Senator Scott is working to pass the Stop Antisemitism on College Campuses Act, which he and Senator Tim Scott sponsored.

This measure would cut off federal education funding for schools and institutions that propagate antisemitism or sanction, sponsor, or facilitate violent antisemitism.

Senator Rick Scott joined Senators Bob Casey and Tim Scott in introducing the Antisemitism Awareness Act. By requiring the U.S. Department of Education to consider the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism when enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws, the bill will help address antisemitic sentiment and action on college campuses, which has been rising across the country for years and spiked in the aftermath of Hamas’ terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.
