Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) sent a letter to Erika L. McEntarfer, Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), calling for answers on what he described as the Biden-Harris administration’s “failed economic policies” that have led to significant downward revisions in job growth reporting.

Scott highlighted BLS data revisions that reveal 810,000 fewer jobs were created than initially reported by the administration.

In his letter, Senator Scott expressed concerns over the repeated discrepancies in employment data. He pointed out that inflated job numbers, which are later quietly revised, suggest a troubling pattern in the administration’s economic management. “This is further evidence of the unfortunate downturn the U.S. economy has taken under this administration, causing harm to the American people,” Scott wrote.

Scott emphasized that job gains for 2024 have already been revised downward for five of the first six months, resulting in 340,000 fewer jobs than originally reported. Similarly, revisions for 2023 showed that 11 of 12 months had job gains lowered by an average of 30,000 jobs each month, totaling 360,000 fewer jobs than initially announced.

“These substantial and continual reporting errors certainly do not inspire confidence,” Scott added, urging the BLS to address the reliability of its employment data and provide clarity on the reporting discrepancies.
