U.S. Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL), one of the newest members of the Senate, has secured influential committee assignments that will position her to advance President Donald Trump’s nominees and legislative priorities. Moody, who was selected to fill Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s vacated Senate seat, is set to serve on several high-profile committees that oversee critical policy areas.
In addition to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Moody will sit on the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, among others. These assignments place her in a prime position to influence the confirmation process for key Trump administration appointees, including Kash Patel, the president’s nominee for FBI Director, who is scheduled for a confirmation hearing next week.

“It will be an honor to serve on these committees as a voice for Floridians in the U.S. Senate. We have a lot of work ahead to move President Trump’s agenda forward and put America first,” Moody said in a statement.
Moody’s role on the Judiciary Committee will be pivotal in Patel’s confirmation, as the nominee has vowed to “restore law and order” and eliminate political bias within the agency. Patel has pledged to root out elements within the FBI that have allegedly participated in or facilitated the weaponization of federal law enforcement against American citizens and officials.
Before her appointment to the Senate, Moody served as Florida’s attorney general, where she closely aligned herself with Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ conservative policy agenda and established herself as a staunch defender of President Trump. Her legal background and tough-on-crime stance make her a key ally in advancing Trump’s law enforcement and border security initiatives.

As attorney general, Moody was a vocal advocate for strict immigration enforcement and took a leading role in lawsuits challenging federal policies under the Biden administration, particularly regarding border security and state sovereignty.
Moody’s committee assignments also include:
- U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging, where she will help shape policies affecting senior citizens, a critical demographic in her home state of Florida.
- U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), which oversees federal policies on healthcare, education, and workforce development.
Moody’s position on the Judiciary Committee will not only enable her to shepherd Trump’s judicial and law enforcement nominees but also play a role in potential legal battles over immigration, healthcare, and federal regulations.
With a closely divided Senate, her voice will be critical in shaping Republican legislative priorities in the coming months.
Her committee work is expected to focus on:
- Advancing judicial confirmations that align with conservative constitutional principles.
- Strengthening border security measures through legislative and oversight actions.
- Fostering economic growth by cutting regulatory red tape and advocating for pro-business policies.

With her deep legal expertise and strong conservative credentials, Moody is poised to be a major player in advancing the Trump administration’s priorities in the Senate. As the confirmation process for high-profile appointees like Kash Patel approaches, all eyes will be on Moody’s role in ensuring a smooth transition for Trump’s new administration.
