Unemployment claims in Florida decreased last week, offering a positive sign for the state’s labor market as the Labor Day weekend approached.

Florida’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.3% from April to July. The Florida Department of Commerce will release the August rate on September 20th.

The Department of Labor estimated 227,000 claims were filed last week nationally, a slight decrease from the previous week. The national unemployment rate in July stood at 4.3%.

This encouraging news suggests a positive trajectory for Florida’s job market as the state heads into the fall season.
