Frustrated by the lull in the action that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy promised for investigating President Joe Biden, Rep. Matt Gaetz has filed a subpoena for the president’s wayward son — on McCarthy’s behalf.
“@SpeakerMcCarthy, after eight months of inaction, I have taken the liberty of drafting a subpoena to Hunter Biden. It simply requires your date and signature. Millions of Americans are wondering if you’re serious,” Gaetz posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, along with a copy of the subpoena.
As reported by journalist Tim Pool, the Fort Walton Beach Republican’s draft document stated, “This subpoena hereby orders the production of relevant documentary material as set forth on the attached schedule, followed by your participation in one or more days of deposition testimony. The deposition will be under oath and will be led by the professional staff of the Judiciary Committee as well as members.”

Gaetz is a member of the Judiciary Committee.
Per Pool, Gaetz’s unofficial subpoena seeks correspondence between President Joe Biden and Hunter, “including sent and received emails, attachments, and metadata” as well as any communications with either domestic and foreign business partners from January 2008 to the present.
The subpoena also demands all text and multimedia messages between Joe Biden, Hunter, and other domestic or foreign business partners from the same time period. Hunter also would provide records of phone calls, call logs, and call details between himself and his father, along with “documents, contracts, agreements, financial records, and communications related to foreign business partnerships or ventures in which he may have been involved in during the aforementioned time period,” Pool reported.
The draft subpoena also states that it is “focused on records in your custody and control that are uniquely positioned to provide to the Judiciary Committee in light of your role in President Biden’s alleged bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors.
The Gateway Pundit, which also reported on Gaetz’s post, added that the congressman appears to refer to “records pertaining to secret global phone lines and email pseudonyms used by then-Vice President Joe Biden to communicate with Hunter and their business partners.”
