Following the approval of a $60 billion aid package for the nation on Saturday, Democrats in the House of Representatives waved Ukrainian flags and exclaimed, “Ukraine.”
With just 101 Republicans supporting the aid package and 112 voting against it, the bill’s passage was not without major drama within the party and the other side of the aisle.
The Ukraine package passed with a vote of 311 to 112.

Democrats applauded the passage of the bill while brandishing Ukrainian blue-and-yellow flags.
“BREAKING: House Democrats finally found a nation’s flag they believe is worth waiving,” said Gaetz on X. “You can see the disgust on my face!”
Gatez was replying to a post on X by Rep. Clay Higgins.
“All Democrats waiving Ukrainian flags on your House floor when the bill passed sending another 60B of your treasure to fund the war machine. 100% deficit money. Borrowed on the backs of your children. Wake up America,” posted Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana.
Florida Rep. Cory Mills blasted democrats Saturday, “No flag except the American Flag 🇺🇸 should ever be flown or brought into the U.S. Congress chamber,” said Mills.
“I wish those who waved flags of Ukraine on the chamber floor loved America and our open borders as much as they do foreign nations,” said Mills. “It’s a sad day in the US Congress when many of those who cheer for Ukraine funding vehemently opposed support to US border security.”
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted the passage of the bill and Speaker Johnson Saturday.
“Mike Johnson’s House of Representatives so proud to work for Ukraine. Not the American people!!! It’s despicable!” said Greene on X.
“Zelensky thanks Speaker Mike Johnson (D-Ukraine) for sending $61 BILLION of your hard-earned tax dollars to fuel a foreign war. Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats while the majority of the Republican majority voted against it. Not only is Mike Johnson a traitor to our conference, he’s a traitor to our country,” Greene continued on X.
Greene, known for her opposition to Ukraine aid, has been leading a rebellion against Speaker Johnson. Last month, she filed a resolution to oust him, known as a motion to vacate, citing his cooperation with Democrats on government spending and foreign aid.

Two more House Republicans, Reps. Thomas Massie and Paul Gosar have formally backed her resolution, further threatening Johnson’s position.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the United States has given Ukraine more than $100 billion in aid—President Joe Biden’s September 2023 continuing resolution provided around $4.5 billion in funding.
Following Biden’s announcement in December 2022 that a battery of MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missiles would be delivered to the war-torn country, the US also promised to supply 31 M1 Abrams main combat tanks to Ukraine.
