Florida Rep. Laurel Lee joined firebrand GOP Rep. Marjorie Tayloe Greene and nine other Republican lawmakers as the “managers” of the House’s impeachment case against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Led by Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, the 11 managers sent a letter to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer demanding that he schedule Mayorkas’ trial “expeditiously.”

As the letter noted, Republicans seek to convict Mayorkas for “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law and his breach of the public trust.”

The evidence against Mayorkas, they added, is “clear, comprehensive and compelling.”

In the letter, the GOP lawmakers noted that Mayorkas refused to enforce U.S. immigration law, directed staffers to violate those laws, oversaw the entry of millions of illegal immigrants into the country, and lied to Congress about the scope of the crisis at the southern border.

“His unlawful actions are responsible for the historic crisis that has devastated communities throughout our country,” the lawmakers wrote.

The lawmakers then told Schumer to carry out his “constitutional obligation” to conduct a trial of Mayorkas.

To do anything else, they added, would “be a violation of our constitutional order and an affront to the American people whom we all serve.”

Lee, of Tampa, is the only Floridian on the list of House managers.

On X, Lee posted that she also wanted Schumer to do his job and schedule the trial.

“Nearly 190,000 illegal immigrants were encountered at the Southern Border in February—raising the total number of illegal encounters to 9 MILLION nationwide since 2021. Yet another record was broken by the #BidenBorderCrisis. This must end NOW!” Lee posted.

She added, “Secretary Mayorkas has willfully violated the law and must be held accountable. I joined @SpeakerJohnson to call on the Senate to honor their Constitutional duty and to hear the evidence presented in trial.”

Lee was in the news most recently after former President Donald Trump called on any MAGA follower to challenge her in the upcoming GOP primary.
