Florida Rep. Greg Steube Advocates For Standing With Israel, Pushing Back On Narrative Shift

U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) Thursday introduced The Eliminate DEI in the Military Act to prohibit federal funding from being used for any diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) activity in the armed forces, service academies, or at the Department of Defense.

Florida Rep. Greg Steube on Sunday pushed back on the Democrats’ narrative on forcing Israel to concede to Hamas’ demands with a ceasefire and slammed the Biden administration for playing Orwellian word games with terrorists.

In an X post, the Sarasota Republican noted that Sunday was the six-month anniversary of Hamas’ “brutal attack” on Israel, which killed more than 1,200 Jews, including at least 32 Americans. Hamas also snatched more than 240 hostages and claims to still hold roughly half of them.

“We stand firm in our support for Israel’s right to defend itself and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to eradicating Hamas and bringing home every single hostage,” Steube posted.

His comments came as leftists demanded President Joe Biden force Israel, the victim of this attack, to scale back or completely halt its efforts to hold Hamas accountable for the bloodshed.

For example, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently called for new elections in Israel in order to vote out conservative Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On Friday, former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led more than 30 other liberal lawmakers to call on Biden to halt all weapons transfers to Israel. She and the rest called such arms shipments  “unjustifiable.”

The left-wing Working Families Party website noted that as of April 3, 85 Democrats in Congress have demanded Israel immediately accept a ceasefire.

But as Steube was reiterating his commitment to supporting Israel, he also pointed out how Biden is softening how the federal government speaks about terrorists.

The congressman highlighted on X a recent Washington Free Beacon article that noted how Biden’s Office of the Director of National Intelligence wants to prohibit spies from using “biased language” about terrorists.

The agency “seeks to ban a range of common terms because it says they offend Muslims and foment racism against employees,” the Free Beacon reported.

These terms include: “Salafi-Jihadist,” “Jihadist,” “Islamic-Extremist,” “Sunni/Shia-Extremism,” or “Radical Islamists.”

“These terms incorrectly suggest that Islamic beliefs somehow condone the actions and rhetoric espoused by these foreign terrorist organizations,” the government’s guide stated.

Intelligence briefings often “used certain phrases to identify international terrorism that are hurtful to Muslim-Americans and detrimentally impact our efforts as they bolster extremist rhetoric,” the guide continued.

In response to the article, Steube posted, “It’s a dangerous precedent that undermines our ability to identify threats and emboldens our enemies.”

“We need to stand against this weakening of our defenses and insist on a steadfast dedication to safeguarding our nation, without being swayed by woke initiatives,” he added.
